    Morrow Batteries is a Norwegian battery company founded in 2020, mainly consisting of Agder Energi and NOAH. The company is developing and industrializing the next generation of graphene-enhanced lithium-sulfur batteries to improve their performance and significantly reduce their environmental impact, while producing batteries based on existing conventional technology and building a new giga-factory.

    Morrow will inherit Graphene Batteries’ technological graphene-enhanced battery technology, and a number of components, such as graphene-coated collectors, will be used in the first lithium-ion cell based on existing lithium. Some components, such as graphene-coated collectors, will be used in the first plant built on existing lithium batteries.

    In 2024, Morrow plans to open its first battery plant in Arendal, southern Norway. Initial plans call for 32 GWh of power cells for automobiles and ships. According to the plan, the new plant is scheduled to be built in four phases, each with a maximum production capacity of 8GWh. Starting in 2028, it will produce 43 GWh per year.

    In terms of supply chain, in 2023, Norwegian Morrow signed supply agreements with Nordisk and Kodaly at the end of May and the end of September successively.

    FREYR Battery is a lithium battery production developer founded in 2018 and headquartered in Mo i Rana. accelerating the decarbonization of the global energy and transportation systems through the production of clean, cost-competitive batteries. fREYR focuses on energy storage systems (“ESS”) and commercial mobility as its primary markets, and the company has been focused on serving the passenger electric vehicle (“EV”) market and making EV battery cell.

    FREYR’s four planned superplants in MoI Rana, Norway, with a total annual capacity of 36GWh, will come on stream in 2023-2024, respectively, and will gradually expand capacity to 43GWh by 2025, 83GWh per year by 2028 and over 100GWh by 2030.

    FREYR signed an offtake agreement with energy storage system integrator Powin Energy in 2022 for a total of 28.5GWh over an agreed term of six years. In 2022, it entered into a joint venture with Chinese-Taiwanese LFP firm Likai to build a lithium iron phosphate anode ( anode in a lithium ion battery is as the main feature of the battery ) materials plant in Norway.
