Established in Taiwan, China on August 29, 2011, Gogoro is an innovative company in the field of ebike battery swapping. It mainly focuses on the development and distribution of smart ebikes and the production and management of battery swapping infrastructure. After several years of development, it has gradually formed a scale and an electric two wheeler ecosystem. It is regarded as one of the leading innovators of electric two wheelers in Asia.

Gogoro maintains an impressive dominance in its local market of Taiwan. More than 90% of electric scooters and ebikes on the road use Gogoro’s batteries, although not all of these two wheelers are made by Gogoro. As part of the Powered By Gogoro Network, the company works with more than a dozen other two wheeler manufacturers to develop scooters that are suitable for Gogoro powertrains.

Well-known motorcycle brands such as YAMAHA also choose to join Gogoro ebike battery swapping camp.

In addition to the cost advantage of the electric wheeler itself, another important reason for Gogoro’s success is the mature Gogoro Network battery swap system, which is also the core of Gogoro’s operations. Users can quickly and easily replace exhausted batteries at Gogoro ebike battery swapping stations for fully charged ones. The system not only simplifies the scooter charging experience, but also aims to reduce urban pollution and promote sustainable transportation.

Currently, there are many Gogoro ebike battery swap stations in Taiwan’s big cities and there is one battery swap station almost every two or three crossings. In Singapore, for example, it has partnered with Jardien Cycle & Carriage; in India, Gogoro has formalized an agreement with popular scooter-sharing platform Zypp.

As a leader in the field of battery swapping, Gogoro and its local partners in the Philippines announced the upcoming launch of its smart Gogoro ebike and battery swapping network in the Philippines. The Gogoro battery swapping network is ideal for densely populated urban areas like the Philippines, where two-wheelers are a common form of transportation but charging options are few and far between.

917Ventures of Globe Group, the Philippines’ leading digital solutions platform, and Ayala Corporation, the Philippines’ top conglomerate, joined Gogoro during a ceremony at Globe headquarters to announce the public sale of the Gogoro ebike in Metro Manila in the fourth quarter of 2023.

New models of Gogoro ebike

EV-C1

At the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, Gogoro demonstrated its Gogoro ebike series. Gogoro mainly exhibited some popular models and modified models for specific scenarios. What is worth noting is that Gogoro unveiled the new model EV-C1, which is expected to be launched in the second half of 2023.

The EV-C1 looks much larger than other Gogoro ebike series. According to date, its output power is 7KW and its cruising range is about 100 kilometers on a single charge, which is equivalent to 125cc. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2023.

Gogoro SuperSport

In 2022, Gogoro released a new Gogoro SuperSport series of Gogoro ebike, using the new independently developed SSmartcore technology platform and more newly developed smart functions to make the new products safer and smarter. Gogoro also said that the new technology will also be available to Gogoro Network vehicle partners this year.

From the appearance point of view, Gogoro SuperSport has made new style improvements based on the shape of the previous GGogoro S. It is worth mentioning that this model uses dynamic light-changing paint, and the color will change according to the viewing angle, making the appearance of the scooter more dynamic and high-end.

In terms of power, Gogoro SuperSport is equipped with a G2.2 aluminum alloy water-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motor with a peak power of up to 7.6Kw. The scooter is designed to reach a maximum speed of 96km/h, and it only takes 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0-50km/h.

In terms of configuration, it is equipped with Class D LED light sets for the first time. The illumination angle is expanded by 2 times compared with ordinary ones, and the brightness can be increased by 3 times, which greatly improves driving safety at night.

Equipped with all-season performance tires, a dual-circuit braking system, and built-in integrated tire pressure monitors (TPMS) on the front and rear wheels. Using the latest IQ system, it can be connected to the smartphone APP to perform intelligent and convenient functions such as voice control, querying the nearest battery replacement point, and unlocking the vehicle.

It is worth mentioning that the SSmartcore intelligent driving electronic control core equipped with GGogoro SuperSport may be the biggest surprise. This electronic control system can effectively improve the overall performance of the vehicle. It not only provides more precise control, faster response to power and safety equipment, but also integrates its newly developed TCS (Traction Control System), cruise control mode and LTE remote connection, internet services and other equipment.

In the two wheeler industry, most TCS tracking systems are only used on large-scale high-end fuel motorcycles, and their application on lithium battery two wheeler is relatively rare. Gogoro independently developed and launched a tracking anti-skid control system specially developed for ordinary heavy-duty electric motorcycles.

This TCS tracking anti-skid system has the characteristics of ultra-fast response time, low intervention feeling and high sensitivity. It can instantly detect the speed difference between the front and rear wheels. When the rear wheel spins, TCS will immediately intervene and adjust power output to stabilize rear wheel tracking dynamics.

Gogoro S2 Adventure

Gogoro S2 Adventure is a special edition of the Gogoro ebike S series, designed for travel and off-road use. The scooter comes with a 7,600W electric motor with 213Nm of torque. The scooter has a top speed of 45 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h (4.1 seconds) with a range of 110 km.

This scooter is designed for off-road use. The scooter’s suspension has been raised by 35 mm, the seat height has been raised by 30 mm and the ground clearance has been increased by 30 mm. The scooter features 245mm enlarged front disc brakes with competition-grade 4-piston radial-mount calipers for improved braking performance in humid conditions.

Just like other series of Gogoro ebike, this model is optimized for safety and is IPX5 waterproof. Equipped with dual disc brakes, regenerative braking (engine braking) and synchronized braking system (SBS), which can provide braking force to the front and rear wheels at the same time, balancing the braking force to reduce the risk of emergency braking or emergency braking on wet roads.

The Gogoro S2 Adventure also offers remote service. Gogoro ebike engineers continuously track the wheeler through more than 80 sensors to ensure that all functions are faultless. The scooter’s dashboard offers Gogoro’s iQ system, which pushes riding information to a smart dashboard to help the driver ride more efficiently.
